The WE'RE READY! Community Disaster Preparedness Program was a team effort that brought together theory and practice in the field of disaster management. Dr. Evalyna Bogdan (now at York University) and Dr. Stephanie Sodero (now at University of Manchester) designed the program framework based on disaster research to address the gap in emergency preparation at the community level and the shortage of resources at the municipal level. Town of High River staff, including then-emergency manager Carly Benson, and community volunteers further developed the activities by applying their place-based experience and expertise.
